Top Note Card Box

 

This is the project I am going to be teaching on Saturday at the church.  It is a card box with an acetate window, and 6 matching cards with envelopes that are stored inside the box.  What a lovely gift this would make for that special friend or family member.  This next photo is a picture of the side view of the box.

Some of the beautiful, quilt cards.  I stood one up to show you it standing up, the other photo is looking down at them in the box.  I love the Beau Chateau paper that I made this with.  Such a fun, shabby look to it.

Getting this made, and getting all the kits ready for Saturday took up most of the day.  I did have some company today too.  Susie was here in the morning and Di was here in the afternoon, plus I got a nap in.  I had that earlier than normal so I should be able to get down to bed fairly early tonight!  Have a great Friday!  Elaine

Thank you cards

The last time I posted I told you that I was punching out DSP squares and gluing them on a 3 " square.  The focal point of these cards were what I was working on.  I had 18 of them done (without flowers) when I last wrote and was thinking about making about 30 of them.  Well...after I got them all done, I had 45 of the squares made!  And, I did not make a dent in the DSP scraps, nor the card stock bin.  But after I got done making flowers yesterday, the card stock scrap bin is noticeably emptier!  YEAH!  I have all the flowers and leaves attached to all 45 squares.  These 6 that I finished up for you tonight went very fast.  I decided to post all of these so that you could see how different they look even with all of them having the same base colors.  While I was cutting these flowers out yesterday, I also cut a bunch of different flowers and assembled them for my shoe and tell box.  All in all...I am guessing I made about 125 flowers which probably took about 12 hours to do!  SHOOT ME!  and put me out of my misery!  I must be crazy.  But shouldn't have to do any for the show and tell box for next month, maybe a couple of months as there were still flowers left in it. 
Today I marked a bunch of stuff for the flea market, put it in baskets, and put it in the van.  Sarah was also over for a visit and I gave her birthday presents as I did not see her on her birthday.  She adored the flower magnets and I let her pick out 3 for her fridge.  She also loved the other magnets I am making and she thinks all of them will sell good.  I hope she is right about that!  I need to bring home, (or find some around here) some more string tags so that I can get the rest of my stuff marked.  But I made a big dent it in today and my living room is starting to look more like a living room again!
Tonight I set up my little tv tray table on the bed and worked on attaching buttons, flowers, and little spools of thread onto my pin cushion tags.  I haven't begun to make a dent in the tin of them that needs to be decorated as I have TONS of extras, but I want to get enough done so that I have at least one for each pin cushion finished, I think I have about 8 to go and will probably finish them up before hitting the hay.  I have been up late just about every night this week.  Hopefully next week I will get on a better sleep pattern.  Have a good one!  Me

A good find!

Another busy day.  I cleaned out all my summer clothes and other stuff that doesn't fit and put it on the couch today.  I had Jessie come for about a half hour after school today to haul it all upstairs and we got it put away in the upstairs closet.  Then she packed up my Tastefully Simple and took it all downstairs.  I will have it set up at Curves next week if you wish to buy something.  Before I picked her up, I did some errands, and after I dropped her off I stopped at Practical Cents.  I was very fortunate to find what I went there for.  Can't tell you....it is a surprise!  :-D  But I can tell you something that I did find and was absolutely thrilled about!!!  I have wanted for a couple of years one of those old hard case makeup cases that used to go with luggage sets.  You know...the one your mom had when you where a kid.  My mom had a blue one. Probably still does.  LOL  When you flip the top open there is a mirror inside of it and they usually have pockets with elastic at the top of them.  I have been searching for a nice one for sometime.  Usually they are all stained up bad or smell musty inside.  Well this one is really nice inside, and looks like brand new.  It is red and is pretty cool and the best part is that it only cost $3.00!  It is absolutely perfect.  I will be able to put my hot airbrush, hairspray, gel, makeup, meds, etc. all in one case.  Yippee skip!  Ah, the little things that make me happy!  I am now ready for a road trip but there will be no road trips for me till after the wedding.  Speaking of which, it is only 3 weeks away now!  Jenna Lee called when we were working upstairs this afternoon and they got every thing done for their marriage license and will be able to pick it up next week!  So we are very happy about that, and I called Sarah to share the good news!  She is still not feeling well and they decided that they won't be able to go to Iowa to Zach's nephew Henry's baptism tomorrow.  They don't want to take a chance on getting everyone sick.  I hope she is feeling better by Sunday as they are going to be God Parent's for Memphis on Sunday and Sarah is so excited about that.  She just loves little Memphie (as she calls her) to pieces!  As soon as she feels better, she is coming here to learn how to sew and make her a baby quilt.  Well...I'd better hip hop off to bed!  Have a great weekend!  Elaine

Circle Circus and Oval All

Happy Labor Day Weekend! And happy is what Elaine is! We had fantastic weather today, tons of people, and great sales at the flea market today! I had lots of visitors today...new friends and old. The fall/winter line of Tastefully Simple is out and what a fantastic line of products. I do have to say, this is the very best catalog yet. Lots of new yummy things. Today I gave samples of Onion Onion Dip and tomorrow will be Spinach Herb Dip. It looks like the weather the next two days will be great and boy we sure needed this after having rain (or cold) so many weekend's this year.

I don't think that I remembered to tell you that the stereo in my van went out about a month ago. Zach looked at it today and the fuses are all good so either a wire is loose or the stereo is shot. Either way....I probably won't have tunes in the Yackette mobile for a long time as the Money Pit (aka known as my home) is taking all my dollar's at the moment. Oh well...we shall survive.

Another bit of new's is that the new ambulance service for Adams County is pretty much in my backyard. So far it is going pretty well as they don't turn on their siren right here and I was used to the ambulance from the hospital going by here anyways. What is new though is that I hear the cars of the staff going in and out of the parking lot at all different times of the day and night, plus the ambulance has a beeping sound that goes off when they back in the garage. It is hard to tell if someone is at my house or there. So....if you come to visit...be sure to ring the door bell, knock loud, or call me, as I might think it someone over there or may be upstairs sewing. And if I am upstairs, I probably won't be able to hear you. Have a wonderful evening! Elaine

Petal Pizzaz

Good Evening. Another beautiful day. I just love it when you don't have to run air conditioning or heat which is kind of rare in Wisconsin. Most of the time we go directly from one to the other. I was busy stamping today and also mounted a bunch of new stamp sets that I ordered from the new Holiday mini. I have LOTS of cute projects planned.

My friend Carol was over tonight and bought some cards and took me for a ride in her new Equinox. She got it a week ago, 16,000 miles, red, and very nice. We drove up to Mc Donald's for ice cream. We are going to take a road trip in it very soon!!!!!

Mojo Monday & Oval All

I am having fun playing in my stamping room tonight. It has been way too long since I have had time to do that! I decided that I would do the Mojo Monday Sketch tonight. They have a weekly sketch and this is the first time I have participated. This is a great sketch for using coordinating pattern papers. These paper's came from a magazine that I bought last winter in Milwaukee when Jenna and I were at Border's bookstore. That is one of our favorite places to go. I used the stamp set Oval All and the coordinating large oval and scalloped oval punches. I love this set and punches! This was a fun card to make and I think it turned out pretty cute!

Another RAK

Hello! Today I have a picture of another card that I received as a RAK. This one also came from a gal I don't know, named Judi Parker. It says: Hi Elaine, Just a note to let you know someone is sending you a sunny day and wishes for a happy day! Judi. A very pretty card. I actually received this one before the other RAK but it got put in a pile on the kitchen counter the week Breezy and Riley were here working and I didn't do any posting during that time period. I was too busy. Speaking of the two of them....Breezy's wife, Nancy's mother just passed away. This would be Riley's grandma. Please keep there family in your prayer's during this difficult time and Lady Di in your prayers as she has some health issues going on. I took her to the doctor in Tomah today and then we went to Walmart and did some grocery shopping. We had lunch at Arby's and then headed home. They have the most delicious Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwiches......yummy....try it if you get the chance! Lady Di was so kind to treat me to one today!!! We unloaded groceries at both house's today after we got back, dropped off her prescription and then I headed to the flea market for some last minute work. I was glad that I had went down there as I left things a little messier than I thought! I also thought of some more things that I needed to bring down there so made a list after I got home. After phone calls, Im's, and emails....I watched a little TV and fell asleep. I hadn't planned on doing that...but I was out...down for the count....and surprised when I woke up as I didn't realize I was falling asleep. Do you ever do that? Now I will probably be up late :-( Oh well.....whatcha gonna do!?!?! I made some chili dogs after I got up and boy were those sure yummy! Now I think I will go make a sympathy card for Breezy and Nancy. Have a great weekend! Boo

April Stamp Camp

Here are three of the projects that we made at Stamp Camp this month. We also made Sarah's wedding invitation, see Oct 08 post for a picture of that. The gals learned some new techniques this month. The one with the black flowers from Upsey Daisy is an emboss resist technique with sponging. We had a lot of gals who learned how to emboss for the first time and they love seeing the "magic" of it rising on the card stock. The pink mother's day card was made with the new Manhatten texture die and vellum and was ran through the big shot. Lot's of fun pretty cards!

I have still been slaving away on my house but had a little break with Jenna, Antonio, and Diana being here the past two days. We met Sarah in the Dells last night at Applebee's and had a nice family dinner. Today we met my mom at Family Affair for lunch and had a nice time. The kids left late this afternoon and I was sorry to see them go. I had a couple of batches of company this afternoon and also marked a bunch of retired stamp sets to put out to sell at the Friendship Shoe Box Swap that Melissa and I are hosting here tomorrow. I did a few things at the fleamarket tonight before going to the church for final set up for the swap tonight. I just finished eating supper and returning a few phone calls and I am now headed to bed. I know I have been neglicting my blogging...but it has been an extremely busy month. After tomorrow I don't really have anything planned and I am SOOOOOOO......glad! If I ever get my new sewing and scrapping room's finished...I will post some pictures! Or better yet...come visit! Scalloped Oval Chart

Tonight I had a stamping party at Angela July's home. She served us a fantastic meal and we had a large crowd. Lots of new people and we all had a lot of fun. I made this chart this afternoon to show off the new scallop oval punch and the new stamp set Only Ovals so that my stamper's could see all the possibilities this stamp set and coordinating punches have. I got so busy playing with it that I lost track of the time. It was 3:15 and I still hadn't taken my shower and I had told Angela that I would be there by 4:30. But I made it in time! I will post the pictures of our projects tomorrow!
