Hard at work

Good Evening-
Another busy day in Mayberry.  I had company in the morning, cut up 2 sweaters, and 3 jumpers and felted them, folded clothes, marked and packaged items for sale, and crocheted flowers and headbands.  I am probably forgetting something, but that is what I can think of at the moment.  Any who it has been non stop this afternoon and evening.  Stay safe tomorrow in the snow storm!  Elaine

Fall Fun Day

A great time was had by all today at Fall Fun Day.  We had 3 banquet tables of wonderful food to choose from.  There was pumpkin bowling the little kids enjoyed, and turkey trot races were enjoyed by the adults of all ages.  They were fun to watch.  The older kids made scarecrow's out of brown paper bags, and little Mason was sitting on my lap while they were doing that, scribbling with a pencil in each hand, happy as a clam.  He fell asleep in my arms and probably slept for about an hour and a half with all the noise going on around him.  Little Olivia and Henry, Sarah and Zach's niece and nephew were adorable as always, and Olivia decided that I could be her Grandma too.  She was telling me that she only has "one" Grandma, when she has many Grandma's, which those of us around thought was pretty funny.  Lots of photographs were taken, and all the tables were playing board games.  A fun afternoon, that will be come an annual tradition.

It's the weekend!!!

Tomorrow is our Fall Fun and Cheer Day, and it is also our Steffen Thanksgiving get together.  I am in charge of the craft project and we will be making paper bag scare crows.  Every one is bringing a dish to pass, and I made sugar cookies.  I did pumpkin faces, and wrote all kinds of words on them about things that happen in fall, like "rake", "pie", "trick", "leaves", to name a few.  It should be an interesting mix of people there, as anyone could invite who ever they want to come.  I know a lot of  Zach's family is coming, and there friends.  I am really looking forward to it.  It should be a fun day!  Elaine

Rummaging Away

Today, Jenna, Mason, Val, Emma and I went to a huge rummage sale that was inside a Christian School on 76th street down the street from Olive Garden.  It was the third day of the sale and they still had ROOMS full of stuff and everything was half price.  It was fun to look at all the stuff.  I guess they have been having this sale for over 40 years according to one of the workers and when we checked out, they gave us a slip of paper with the dates of the sale they are having in May.  I guess it is just nuts when it opens on the first day.  Then we went to a resale store called Mommy and me, and Jen and Val both bought some clothes for the kids.  Mason fell asleep before getting to the next store so I stayed in the van with him and both Mason and Grammie had a much needed nap.  A half a sleep Mason then had a haircut and we took off for home for lunch.  Jenna was tuckered out so we visited and I crocheted and Mason ran around happily chattering.  We went out again in the late afternoon, then spent the evening visiting while Mason slept.  We were concerned he may be up all night but he went back to sleep after being up for about 45 minutes so hopefully he will stay down for the night.  Jen says he has been sleeping a lot this week and she thinks he may be going through a growth spurt.  This little chica better head to bed as she has babysitting duty in the morning while Antonio (and Jen) go to Antonio's last adult confirmation class.  Then he will be able to become a member of the church that they attend.  That's all for today folks!  Good night!!!  Elaine

Winter is near

I had a great evening with Jenna and Mason.  Mason was so happy to see me, he was just a kicking his little feet in his car seat!  He toddles all over the place.  He looks like a drunken sailor, but walks quite deliberately and doesn't fall unless he wants to get down and crawl.  He said Grammie several times tonight which pleased me to know end!

Gift Card Holders

These are some gift card holders I finished.  I made forty of these!
This is what it looks like opened up.  The strip of pattern paper is running across the "pocket" for a gift card and note to be put in the little pocket.  Velcro hold them shut.

Susie stopped over for a visit and to drop off my stamping order today.  I paid bills today and ran errands, did some cleaning, and baked Wild Berry muffins and made Chocolate Chip bars.  Right now I think I will work on packaging up some of the stuff I have been making, as my pile is over flowing!

Great Friend

Hello! I have been busy working on Jenna's wedding invitations. I cut the layers of card stock yesterday and started running pieces through the Big Shot. There are 4 layers on the top of the card, with the last one being an embossed 3 tier wedding cake from the stamp set Pun Fun. I am doing them in Spanish and English. I worked on them today from 10:30 till 4:30, non stop except for a short Baked Potato break for lunch! I really got a lot done and over half of the layers are completely assembled and embossed. I need to assemble the rest plus run the base of the card through the Big Shot to emboss the card front. I still have a lot to do but I am very happy with today's progress on them. I plan on having them finished so that I can send them home with Jenna on the 18th when we have her bridal shower. Barb Cook stopped in to pick up her order today. Melissa and Isabelle were here to pick up some card stock and a acrylic rack that Melissa is buying from me.
On Sunday, we had a family day and the whole family met in Osseo at Norske's Nook for lunch. They are famous for their Norwegian food and for their pies. They have at least 20 different pies on the menu. I had a BLT Club wrap that was wrapped with lefse, home made chips, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie that is to die for! It was fabulous and we had a great time. Just thinking about it makes me want to head back there for more! Ha Ha! I shot a bunch of pictures that I will be sending out sometime this week. I brought home some lefse with me and have been enjoying eating that this week. We took all the grand children to see the farm where my mother grew up, and where Lenore and I played little girls. It brought back lots of fond memories for us. We ended the day with a trip to the cemetery. Mom had goody bags for all of us, we exchanged our Christmas wish lists and every one headed in different directions home. I dropped Jenna, Antonio, and Dianna off at Tomah where we had left Jen's car and after getting gas, I headed over to Good Will. I found some treasures of course! It was a very fun day....a day to remember!

Great Friend/Wonderful Favorite

This card I used two stamp sets on. The word "wonderful" is from the stamp set Wonderful Favorite's. The butterfly and the verse are from the stamp set Great Friend. I just love that set and I am sure you will be seeing lot's more of it. I glued some pearls on the butterfly from the "Pretties Kit". They give projects such an elegant touch. The designer paper is Pink Pirouette and the panels are layered on a solid panel of Pink Pirouette which is then mounted on Riding Hood Red Card Stock.

Great Friend

Good Evening! Well the weekend didn't go as I had planned as it was so cold and I wasn't at the flea market much but it turned out to be fun! Debby and I went to Antler's Ridge for dinner last night and the owner's daughter plays piano and was playing last night. I love to listen to piano music during dinner, it is a real treat! Then we came back here and worked on some projects. Today we decided to go to Tomah as once again it was too cold for me to be at the flea market. Debby wanted to get some beads as she is into bead making, and I picked up a few groceries and kitty litter and cat food. We also went to Good Will. When we got back, Debby needed to do a treatment on her legs so we got that set up and we both took snoozes in the chair until her phone woke us up twice. Kind of like being at home for me...LOL Then I went down to the Citgo by Castle Rock park and picked us up some chicken and potato wedges. Debby taught me how to make artichokes which was a new experience for me as I have never had them. She showed me how to cut the tips off, spread them open a bit so that the water can get in, then put them in a pan of water, bring them to a boil, lower the heat and then let them cook for an hour. You melt 1/3 cup of butter per person/artichoke and put garlic salt in it. Then you take a piece of artichoke, dip it in the butter and use your teeth to pull the meat off of it. Getting to the heart is the best part of all!!! It was very good. I felt like I was out in the jungle and it reminded me of Gilligan's Island and them eating the plants off the island. LOL Thanks for the neat experience Debby and for supper! Too bad I didn't have my camera along!
Today's card is a favorite of mine and uses the stamp set Great Friend. I am so happy this set is making the new catalog. I see endless possibilities with this one. Have a good night! Me

Great Friend

Today's sneak peek is with the stamp set Great Friend that is currently being offered in the mini catalog. I love this set and have been having a lot of fun with it. Of all the cards that I have made recently this one is my favorite. I love the layout, the color combination, and that finishing touch is the silver hodgepodge hardware! I am packing for Nadine's party today. We have a lot of people coming and it should be a great time! Nadine was the one who got me into stamping in the first place. I went to my first party in Feb 06 and became a demonstrator in May 06. So this marks my 3 year anniversary! All I can say is WOW...it sure changed my life...and in a wonderful way! Thank you Nadine so much for inviting me to your party 3 years ago! Stamping has brought me great joy and has blessed me in so many ways. I thank you, and God for all the wonderful new friends in my life!

Friendship Shoe Box Swap

Yesterday we held our Friendship Shoe Box Swap at Immanuel Lutheran Church. It was a huge success and we are planning to do it on an annual basis. Everyone had a great time. Here is a picture of the card I had them make at my station. We had lots of new swappers so I wanted to keep it pretty simple. But I think it is a really cute card. Can't wait for next years! Elaine

April Door Prizes

Hello- I am still slaving away with all of my house projects but what is done looks fantastic so it is all worth it. I am taking a little break at the moment and was sitting by the computer paying bills and thought I would do a quick post so that you know that I haven't died.....my body feels like it...but my heart is still ticking! I made 3 of the Number 2 Box with the Big Shot for door prizes this month and filled them with Tags that I cut with our new tag die. I stamped saying's on them with the Sweet Little Sentiments stamp set which is a current level one hostess set and decorated some of them with little punched out flowers. Jenna, Antonio, and Diana are coming to visit tomorrow and I am very excited about that. Have a great night! Elaine
